The African Gender Institute (AGI) at the University of Cape Town warmly welcomes you to the Gender and Women’s Studies (GWS) website. Taking into account the kinds of opportunities and challenges faced by feminists located in African universities, we offer a range of African-authored and African-centred material that takes gender seriously. Nearly seven years after the first regional workshop on the project, it is our hope that the thinking that anchored the discussions then is encapsulated in this website.
