Feminist Knowledge | Bibliography: African Women's Studies II
The rising number of anthologies focusing on women's productive and reproductive roles in particular regions has enormously improved the conceptualising, evaluation and assessment of women's domestic work, agricultural activities and wage labour in different African contexts.
Ahikire’s bibliography offers important references to detailed studies of concerns and priorities in feminist scholarship, especially in sub-Saharan Africa.
Studies
of women in the informal sector by scholars like Omari, Robertson and Snyder
have highlighted women's agency and indicate the centrality of the informal
sector for African women. Studies of waged labour by Arbisala and Oppong deal
with the discriminatory policies that continue to constrain women's employment
opportunities and rights.
